Embassy of Japan in Malaysia

 The Government of Japan has donated RM155,000 to Beautiful Gate Foundation for the Disabled for the “Project for Installation of Recycling Bins for the Disabled”.

   The handover ceremony for the project was held at Pandamaran Chinese Methodist Church on 13 July 2010. YB Ronnie Liu, Member of Executive Committee, Selangor State Government, Encik Mohd Ehsan, Deputy Mayor of Klang Town Council, Rev. Mok Jet Chuan, Chairman, Beautiful Gate and Ms. Sia Siew Chin, Executive Director, Beautiful Gate, and Mr. Masahiko Horie, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, were present at the ceremony.

    

    


   Beautiful Gate Foundation is a welfare based organization that provides services to people with disabilities. Beautiful Gate Foundation has established seven centres throughout Malaysia and served more than thousands disabled persons who stay in the surrounding area.

   With the donation of 50 recycling bins to Beautiful Gate Foundation Klang Centre which supports 40 disabled persons, Beautiful Gate Foundation will be able to expand working skill trainings. Recycling activities will also be able to protect the environment and raise public awareness on concept of recycling in Klang.

   Since 1989, the Government of Japan has extended about RM10 million to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local governments in Malaysia under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Scheme as a way to contribute to many small but socially important projects at the grassroots level.
